Today, I took a short ride into Kortrijk, stopped at a bookstore to pick up a book I had ordered, and then drove a little further to the Queen Astrid Park. I just wanted to see something new and be outside, so a park sounded right. The Queen Astrid Park used to be the Peoples Park and was first created in 1906. When Queen Astrid visited Kortrijk in April of 1935, the park was renamed in honor of the Queen. Sadly, Queen Astrid died 5 weeks later in a car crash.
The park is small, but designed in such a way as to seem spacious. Even if you are familiar with this park, you probably haven’t seen it the way my iPhone sees it. Enjoy!
