ALS – The Husband : Thor
Thor. ‘The god of thunder’. It would be no exaggeration to say that Thor lived up to his name as he carried Veronique, at times figuratively, often literally, through her ordeal. Her ordeal was his ordeal. Once Veronique lost her ability to walk, Thor was rarely away from her side. His life became a juggling act of playing the supporting husband, caring father, main care-giver, patient son-in-law and construction coordinator all while still maintaining his full time job and managing the chaos of a house busy with the comings and goings of family and friends. Thor’s role was to do everything he could to lessen Veronique’s suffering. Ultimately he carried the brunt of the weight from beginning to end.
Thor carried this weight calmly and with grace. Veronique was accurate in her assessment of him being the perfect husband.
